Altered Journal

This is a smaller altered journal I made for a swap. Around 3x6 in size. I sprayed every single page with Heidi Swapp color shine iridescent spritz spray in Mint Green. I used lots of stencils and added some inking and stamping, embellishments and washi tapes. I can't show every page as that would be way too much but here are some examples.

Dress Form

I've been trying to clean up my computer and get pictures off and where they need to be. There are projects that I've made in the past and haven't made it here to my blog for whatever reason. I'm going to start posting these old projects along with some new. Starting with this dress form I created way back when with a glass candle holder for the base. I used a wonderful tutorial by the talented Itza Gomez.

Here is the finished dress form. The dress and scarf I made from scrap orange material. Underneath is orange lace and black tulle.

This is LOTS of hand cut carboard wrapped with masking tape and some added paper mache.
I added a bit of tissue paper that I stamped on. Later I inked it up to give it color.

The wings I cut (metal tape on cardstock) with Tim Holtz die and dry embossed. Painted & distressed.

The glass candle holder I used for my base.

Here it is painted & distressed.

I painted a dresser pull knob to match the base.

This came out to be a nice size.
It measures around 15.5 inches tall & about 12.5 inches wide with the wings.

Canvas 2

This is the 2nd canvas I made for Kelley.
It has several layers and techniques.

The base started as plain chipboard that then had gesso applied followed by Gelatos. I used texture paste through stencils and added stamping. I played around with paints for a bit till I was happy with how it looked. I added torn book page with words that went together. The lady is an image from a kit at Deviant Scraps. I sprayed a sealer on it before adding the dimensional elements.

I used some old hardware I had collected to use on some art. Finally, I had the perfect project. I used 2 pieces at the top and the key at the bottom. The old lace I stained with ink to make it match more. I added a couple brads to the sides. I added gesso to the numbers and painted them a bit. To finish it off I put some eyelets in for my chain to hang.

Mixed Media Canvas

This canvas was made for my swap partner and sweet friend Kelley in a Facebook group.
I had so much fun creating, I ended up making her two!

This is the first one.

I started off with a piece of plain chipboard.
I used different mixed media techniques to create this piece...

Lots of gesso and texture paste with stencils were used. Along with some sprays and inks. Paints. Perfect pearls. Embossing powders. Cheesecloth and book page. Scrapbook paper cut in half circles with mini staples. Metal and chipboard embellishments.

One of the requirements was for it to hang.
I created my hanger using black wire and curled another piece around it.

It turned out to be a really fun project.

Altered containers

These started off as just plain whitish plastic containers with black handles.

They were decorated for gifts for 3 little girls each in their favorite color with their names.

Inside they will store all their pretty hair bows!

Lace, flowers, a couple strings of pearls, a strip of decorative paper and alcohol ink were used on each one.

Altered Bottle

The swap for June was to alter a bottle.
My partner asked for shabby chic, sage green, slate blue and brown.

I first covered it in book/music paper.  Added lace and cheesecloth for texture. Gessoed it. Painted the bottle with some Italian Sage folkart paint. The image I found online. I wrapped cheesecloth that I dyed brown with Lindy's Stamp Gang - Moon Shadow Mist, around the beautiful picture. On the top of the bottle I glued in a knob, covered it with the stained cheesecloth as well. I added some flower trim from Stampin Up  (Robin had sent me with my paintbrush swap, thanks Robin!) that I painted Slate Blue. Put some pearl trim around and added lace.

Vintage Junk Journal

 Picture heavy post!!

I made this vintage junk journal for a swap I was hosting. My partner asked for a journal using an old book. It isn't real "junky" but I loved how it came out. It was the first time I've made one using a book and found it a bit challenging.

I removed all the pages from the book and made my own signatures. Never done this before and I am new at sewing. I hand sewed the signatures into the spine to make the book. I cut a square out on the cover to place a vintage image in. Used old ticket stubs for tabs. Tried out tea dying for the first time! I tea dyed some of the papers and lace! I used lots of tissue tape and I used decorative border punches on the edges of several papers.
