SDC:64 Combining Stamps

I recently discovered Stampotique Stamps and love them. I haven't been able to purchase any yet but decided to play in their challenge at Stampotique Designers Challenge blog. You can participate without using their stamps and might win a gift certificate to the store. This weeks challenge is Combining Stamps. My stamp stash isn't all that big, all I could come up with was to use the hats off of the Tim Holtz guys stamp and put them on some heart stamps. I also used the Tim Holtz "eye" stamp. I cut the love is everywhere out of old book pages.  Here is my page..

Vintage Bookatrix

This is another Bookatrix I made. Different style than before. I wanted it to have a vintage look. I distressed each layer of paper. I used a Tim Holtz stamp on the left. The right side I added an old random photo and I made it so that my swap partner can remove it and put one of her own old family photos in it, if she chooses to! In the center I added some old lace with a decorative stick pin.

I am submitting this project over at Simon Says Stamp and Show Blog, the challenge this week is "Read all about it". It can be any kind of project that is inspired by the challenge, OR a project that features stamping.

Bookatrix for New Baby

This is my first ever Bookatrix. What is a Bookatrix you ask? Well, it is pretty much a keepsake card that looks like a book. How do you make it? You use an embossing board that comes with 6mm ball embossing tool. You put your papers on emboss to get your book shape. There are so many ways you could decorate and embellish for any occasion or just because. I have seen them done with bible scripts as well.

Here is the one I made for my cousins new baby girl! (On the left is all the baby's birth info, blurred out for privacy on here) This could be displayed in baby's room on a plate stand or just sitting up on a shelf.

August Creative Dare

Here is my page I created in my art journal.

1. Create a project featuring a photo of you!
2. Journal or use words to describe who you are today!
3. Incorporate your own handwriting in your piece.

I sprayed my background with homemade glimmer mist in pink and purple. Then I used Neon Markers from Letraset. I used them on my stamps, templates and bubble wrap! They worked great and the bright colors are the "in" thing right now!

UPDATE: I won the random drawing for August!!

Altered Mouse Trap

Here is my first completed altered mouse trap! (yep, I have a few more in the works, just gotta get them completed!) I seen the idea a long while back on Pinterest and knew I wanted to make some.

I love how it turned out!! I bought a pack of new traps from the Dollar Store and took off the parts not needed and started altering. So fun!

I first stamped on it using StazOn ink and Tim Holtz stamps, then added color by using my homemade glimmer mists. To finish it off, I added a piece of  pattern paper that I had stamped on. I ripped it to look cool! Now this is a very awesome memo holder! Just add a magnet or whatever to the back and put it where it needs to be to hold a little note.

I am entering this in the "No Rules" anything goes challenge over at Simon Says Stamp and Show!

Dragon Frame

This is the last of the Asian themed projects for the swap I was in. I used a frame from China and took it apart and cut a dragon from the Pagoda Cartridge and put it inside along with my own gold background paper. For the outside I painted it using the candling technique by The Gentlman Crafter. It is a Wax Resist Technique. Pretty much you paint it one color, rub with candle wax and paint another color on top and rub/buff it.

And here are all my Asian swap items in one photo together!

Altered Birdcage

I made an altered birdcage for part of my Asian themed swap. I started by painting it black. I took apart 3 photo frames I had in my stash (from a garage sale, that I originally bought for the shadow box frames) that had Asian words in them and used these for both sides and the front of the birdcage.  Inside I included beautiful flowers in a container wrapped with red lace and added 3 decorative stick pins to them that I had made.

Asian Altered Notebook

Here is an Asian themed altered notebook I made for the swap. I used the Pagoda Cricut Cartridge, (that my friend Kelley generously loaned me) for the cuts. I added some lace trim up the edge. Included a ying yang charm on the side.

On the inside I included an old photo of some Asian women that I found at a flea market. And another charm on the side.

Asian Decorative Stick Pins

Here I made Asian decorative stick pins for the swap. I actually found the beads with the Asian words at a garage sale, and the others I had in my stash. I added the umbrella because I liked the red and the design on it made me think of the asian theme.

Asian themed swap

I made this for my swap partner who wanted Asian themed items in colors of red, black, gold, white/cream. It came unpainted in just the brown wood color. I painted it black then used paper from Bo Bunny Serenity Collection. I lined the inside too. I used a Martha Stewart border lace punch and a couple brads to make it pretty.

More Asian themed swap items to come!

Olde Curiosity Shoppe Altered box

This is a cigar box that I altered with Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe collection for a swap I was in. It goes with the 2 previous projects here on my blog. My swap partner likes this collection from G45 and so that's what I went with!  It was my first time altering one of these boxes, it was very fun and I love how it came out! She loved all three projects as well. :)

When Pigs Fly Dome

This is another project I made using Olde Curiosity Shoppe collection by Graphic 45. I fussy cut a flying pig out of one of the sheets of paper and attached it to a piece of wire. The When pigs fly sign was cut out from a sheet of the paper too and put on wire. The other pieces were border strips included with the collection. I covered half of a Styrofoam ball with material to stick the wire in for the pig and sign to stand up. The base was originally brown and I painted it black.

Olde Curiosity Shoppe Altered book

I used the Olde Curiosity Shoppe Collection by Graphic 45 to create my very first altered book. I took an old book and cut a house shape out of it. Mod Podged the pages together, painted black and created a niche inside and placed a butterfly that I fussy cut from a sheet of Graphic 45 paper. I added some glossy accents to the spots on the butterfly. I wanted the book to look a bit aged and worn so I added some ink in spots. On the cover, I also cut out a hole for eye so it has some depth to it as well.

June Creative Dare

I've been hanging out with Tracy Weinzapfel on Monday nights via Ustream. Every Monday night she goes Live on Ustream and creates a project on canvas or in her art journal. Everyone is welcome to come be a part of it and it is free! She has even made a facebook group for it called Monday Nights LIVE with Tracy Weinzapfel Studios.

Tracy is doing creative dares (challenges) on her blog too. The creative dare for June is to make something using this quote

"Let go of whatever holds you back and no longer serves you because you only get one shot in life" ~ Unknown

So here is my project using the quote. It's the first time I've done something like this so it's not that spectacular but it was fun creating and that is what it is all about!!
