Subway Art - Family Rules

Here is my first subway art sign I've made. Family Rules from My Vinyl Designer. I made this one as a gift for my cousin. I painted the board then added the vinyl that was cut with my Cameo machine. Weeding it was not too fun but I like how it came out!

Baby's Christmas Ornament

I made this ornament for my cousin as a Christmas gift. I cut the name, feet and info out with my Cameo using vinyl . Glittered the inside of the ornament. Love pink and brown together.

Here it is packaged in the snowflake box. The box is one of Samantha Walkers svg files I cut with the Cameo using SCAL 3.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas yesterday.
Today we are in the middle of a blizzard so we're staying inside!

Batman Themed Birthday Party

Batman birthday party -
I used the Cricut and the Batman Cartridge for decorations. (See earlier postings)
We went with Blue, Yellow, Black color scheme.
We hung yellow and blue balloons from the ceiling and attached words to them like Zap! Boom! Pow!
The birthday boy and his parents all wore Batman shirts

The cake

Games we played-

Pin the bat on bat face

Straw game - where you must quickly pick up paper bats by sucking a straw
and move them to another table (even adults love this one!)

Musical Chairs using Batman theme music,

Freeze tag,

and lastly the kids enjoyed a
Batman Pinata

That's it for the Batman Birthday Party!
It was a lot of fun for both the kids and adults!!

I tried to make the Joker too, but he is very hard. Lots of pieces.

Here it shows all the pieces laid out

This is the base of the body and head assembled

Now the cape and arms have been added

Just attach the head with a brad. It makes it kinda like a bobble head.

Here is a finished picture.

Altered Puzzle Pieces

I altered puzzle pieces for an embellishment swap I am in. I used puzzle pieces from one of my son's old puzzles. I really like how they turned out and think they look even better in person. I hope the ladies who receive them in the swap enjoy them as well. :)

October Mixed Media Challenge

The mixed media challenge for October is to create an art journal page, canvas or tag using at least one spray (Lindy's Stamp Gang is preferred, since they are the sponsor this month but it is not required.)

Here is my page I created in my art journal. I used 2 sprays. A Lindy's Stamp Gang - Starburst spray in French Lilac Violet, and the other is Cranberry Zing glimmer mist by Tattered Angels . I used stencils in my background and the words I printed out on the computer, outlined with charcoal pencil.

Art Tile

For Limor's September Mixed media challenge I decided to make an art tile out of an old bingo game piece.  I used a piece of an old book page and gesso along with some paints. Also, some Tim Holtz background stamps, birds from a Tim Holtz stamp and a "Dream" word stamp. Added stickles and glossy accents.

This shows the back side of the game piece.
And then my finished piece of art on the front

THEME: "GIVING BACK"
Challenge Guidelines:
  1. Create a project of your choice -Canvas, Art Journal, Tag, Card, Altered item etc. I altered a game piece
  2. Project must include at least 1 Recyled household item ( Example: Toilet paper roll, soda can, bottle cap, cereal box etc) I used a bingo game piece
  3. Include at least 1 stamp in your project ( Of course we would love to see you use Unity Stamps but not required) I used 3 different stamps, I do not have any Unity Stamps yet.
  4. Theme: this project must be for someone in your life that could use their spirits lifted or someone you just knew this would make a difference with if they received somthing from you.  It could also be someone you know that has been active in your community and making a difference, you decide. This will be for my sister!
  5. Have a blast!!!!!

Altered Box

Altering things we already have on hand is not only easy but fun too. Boxes are one of my favorite things to alter.

Here is what I started off with..

Then by painting/inking, adhering scrapbook paper and embellishments to it, we get this!

Golf Ball Dog

I came across a video on youtube awhile back showing how to make these cute dogs out of golf balls and a golf tee. My husband works at a golf course so we already had the supplies on hand. It looked like fun and thought I would give it a try. I had trouble finding the right adhesive to hold the balls together. If not for that they are super easy to make.

SDC:64 Combining Stamps

I recently discovered Stampotique Stamps and love them. I haven't been able to purchase any yet but decided to play in their challenge at Stampotique Designers Challenge blog. You can participate without using their stamps and might win a gift certificate to the store. This weeks challenge is Combining Stamps. My stamp stash isn't all that big, all I could come up with was to use the hats off of the Tim Holtz guys stamp and put them on some heart stamps. I also used the Tim Holtz "eye" stamp. I cut the love is everywhere out of old book pages.  Here is my page..

Vintage Bookatrix

This is another Bookatrix I made. Different style than before. I wanted it to have a vintage look. I distressed each layer of paper. I used a Tim Holtz stamp on the left. The right side I added an old random photo and I made it so that my swap partner can remove it and put one of her own old family photos in it, if she chooses to! In the center I added some old lace with a decorative stick pin.

I am submitting this project over at Simon Says Stamp and Show Blog, the challenge this week is "Read all about it". It can be any kind of project that is inspired by the challenge, OR a project that features stamping.

Bookatrix for New Baby

This is my first ever Bookatrix. What is a Bookatrix you ask? Well, it is pretty much a keepsake card that looks like a book. How do you make it? You use an embossing board that comes with 6mm ball embossing tool. You put your papers on emboss to get your book shape. There are so many ways you could decorate and embellish for any occasion or just because. I have seen them done with bible scripts as well.

Here is the one I made for my cousins new baby girl! (On the left is all the baby's birth info, blurred out for privacy on here) This could be displayed in baby's room on a plate stand or just sitting up on a shelf.

Thanks for stopping by, comments are always appreciated! :)

August Creative Dare

Here is my page I created in my art journal.

1. Create a project featuring a photo of you!
2. Journal or use words to describe who you are today!
3. Incorporate your own handwriting in your piece.

I sprayed my background with homemade glimmer mist in pink and purple. Then I used Neon Markers from Letraset. I used them on my stamps, templates and bubble wrap! They worked great and the bright colors are the "in" thing right now!

UPDATE: I won the random drawing for August!!

Altered Mouse Trap

Here is my first completed altered mouse trap! (yep, I have a few more in the works, just gotta get them completed!) I seen the idea a long while back on Pinterest and knew I wanted to make some.

I love how it turned out!! I bought a pack of new traps from the Dollar Store and took off the parts not needed and started altering. So fun!

I first stamped on it using StazOn ink and Tim Holtz stamps, then added color by using my homemade glimmer mists. To finish it off, I added a piece of  pattern paper that I had stamped on. I ripped it to look cool! Now this is a very awesome memo holder! Just add a magnet or whatever to the back and put it where it needs to be to hold a little note.

I am entering this in the "No Rules" anything goes challenge over at Simon Says Stamp and Show!
